TESTIMONIALS

It is a pleasure to write this recommendation for Margaret Leonard and Walkabout
Historic Vancouver.
On July 6, my wife and I visited Vancouver before taking a cruise to
Alaska. Though our Canadian stop was brief, the noontime historical
tour of the downtown and Gastown districts, which was conducted by Ms. Leonard,
was a highlight of our short stay. Margaret, dressed in period costume of
the late 1800's, guided us along the streets and inside buildings for a period
of two hours on a beautiful sunny afternoon. She was both informative and
generous with her time, always willing to answer our questions.
Key architectural elements were brought to our notice whether the
buildings were contemporary or a legacy of Vancouver's late19th century
cityscape.
I might add that this was our second trip to Vancouver, and we saw the city in a
way that we had not previously experienced. I can highly
recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history and architecture of the
city but also its commercial and social history. This walking tour
exceeded our expectations, having only learned of Walkabout Historic Vancouver
on the web.
Sincerely
Fred B. Adelson, Ph.D. Cherry Hill, New Jersey

On
behalf of all of us at the Canadian Tour Guide Association of BC, thank you for
giving us the wonderful 90 minute historical walkabout. Not only did we
learn things about those buildings we see all the time, we learned a few things
about conducting a walking tour. Yours is not an easy job!
Oh,
the details in your tour! Gargoyles! Griffins! Ghosts!
What fun. I spent an hour looking for information on the internet about
the Navigational Aid in Cathedral Place but couldn't find a thing other than a
picture. When I go into Christ Church Cathedral, I'm so overwhelmed with
the beauty and effect of the many stained glass windows that I forget to look at
the other works of art. Thank you for pointing them out. To view the
lobby of the Marine Building from the 2nd floor for the first time is an
experience that so many of us had never had before.
You
were generous with your information and gave a great tour. I know we'll
all do a better job of conducting our own tours, having spent that time on
yours. Thank you.
Gratefully
yours
